YS-074 to be auctioned at Mecum Kissimmee in Jan 2019

Look's pretty clean from my only slightly educated eye. I would love to have one but don't have the coin, and might never have the coin.

I think Leno paid $125K for his five years ago.

YS-074 is one of my old Stingers. I found it in Kansas where it was sold new. It is an original stage 3 car. It never had MINILITES, stone guards, roll bar or gauges. It did have a little rust, but minor. This would be its second re-paint. If that’s the Weber motor I had in it, it’s strong. Very strong. 170rwhp on the dyno. It is a very well documented car and should bring good money depending how well the restoration is. I wish I never let that one go.

Interesting input Texas Yenko Dude. There are certainly a few touches that seem off to me (bumper guards, headlight guards) but looks like a well done ready to use car.

I added the bumper guards. The Yenko crest on the deck lid I added and it was a real Yenko one, not a repro. I like to put those there. There is one on my race car too. The original motor was with the car. I wonder where it is. It had good paperwork too. The quality of the resto and current market will dictate price. What should help it is that it is a real stage 3 car. Less than 10 of those. I’m guessing 50-65k

Most of the Stingers has radios. There was no rhyme or reason how they were converted. I’ve owned 7 and other than YS-199, a race car, everyone of them had radios.

There was also a special “Yenko AM” radio. YS-019 came with one. It’s a little smaller than a factory unit, but doesn’t look that different. Dave LaPorte removed it and installed the delete plate.

Stupid question?

How can it be an original Stage 3 motor if it has Weber carbs?

The motor in the car today, has nothing to do with what Stage level the car was sold new in. It could have a bone stock 140 in it right now and still be an original Stage 3 car.

I used to think the same thing, never be able to afford a tagged Stinger, but I ended up with YS-318. This one is a true race car and is also well documented from it's beginning but not one of the first 100.

Jay Leno's Yenko was bought from a fireman and I remember it was a Stage II, and not a stage III.

Leo's Stinger YS054, had only 3 owners prior to his buying it. First owner was a friend of Don Yenko...I drove it a few times when it was still near the Dealership

Very interesting Yenkomark. I am thinking Jay buys this one at Mecum and then shortly afterwards, sells his Yenko II. i bet Texas Yenko could tell some good history of the car....I am surprised that Jay has not called him about it unless he is not aware of the him being one of the previous owners...but bet if he does buy it...Texas gets a call.

My Yenko brochure lists front and rea bumper guards as options. It lists "Radio, pushbutton" and "Radio, AM/FM, removeable". Was that something like what Fitch offered in the early Sprints, sort of a walkaround radio? What surprised me was the tele column, but it's on the list, too. More for touring than racing, I guess.

I can’t see any reason why Mr. Leno would get rid of an outstanding car to replace it with a very similar one. If he wanted, I’m sure he has space and $$ for both.

Yenko does list bumper guards as an option. But I added the ones on 074. Just like the Yenko crest on the deck lid. That is another thing I did. Plus a few other items.
