Installed right rear axle assembly and driveshaft. Connected brake line.

Disconnect left driveshaft at outboard end. Removed left rear axle assy, control rod, Stabilizer rod, spring, spring cup and rear torque arm/bracket. Installed replacement torque arm and bracket. Installed spring, spring cup, and spring cup rubber. Installed shock bolt, washer and nut.

Should finish installation on both sides tomorrow.

Visitors today. Small progress in this high temps and humidity.

Installed front stabilzer today.

Also installed left rear control rod. Positioned left rear axle assembly and connected up driveshaft. Hooked up brake line. Axle assey still needs 2 more nut and washers to finish its installation.

Cleaned and painted left & right rear stabilizer rods.

I gave myself 3 weeks to get these tasks finished. Not much left to do.

Installed both rear stabilizer rods, bushings and hardware..

Rick stopped by and we installed rear brakes and drums. He got them adjusted.

While inspecting the installations, we noted the right rear camber bolt didn't have any threads showing. It was tight, so it was loosened to see what was binding it. While moving the head of the bolt, it spun in the cam washer. This is a Clark's replacement bolt a previous owner installed. Needless to say, the job just got tougher. Rick found a good used GM bolt in my stash of camber bolts. He cleaned and lubed it, while I was removing the bad bolt. A bit of persuasion along with a ratchet strap to pull the torque arm closer to the differential resulted in an almost perfect alignment. Using a punch, we aligned holes and installed the bolt. Washer and nut was installed.

Rear brakes were bled and rear tires/wheels installed. Left front tire/wheel was installed.

Still waiting parts (float & sender o-ring) from Clark's. They should be here tomorrow.

Received parts I needed for gas tank installation from Clarks today. Install sender float and installed sender with new o-ring into tank. Hook up fuel line, sender wire and ground wire.

A couple more small items to fix/tweak and car will be ready to go to Goodyear for its alignment.

Put front wheels/tires on the Vair. Also, put the fuel back in the tank today. Checked over the car for anything needing attention.

Primed carbs and started the engine up with no issue. Drove her outside where Donna gave the car a wash to get rid of all the dust and grease from last 19 days. She looks good again.

She is now awaiting her time on the alignment rack. Hope to have that accomplished in next few days. Goodyear's alignment rack is down right now.

NOTE: This is the last of any major maintenance being needed on this car. It should be a good reliable driver now. Some nice to have items were planned and may still be done like additional engine system gauges.

Like the Greenbrier, the More Door will be driven around with For Sale signs, in preparation of the Camaro coming back to road worthy status.

I am now going to concentrate on getting the Camaro SS put together. I hope to have it done by the end of the year. Just interior, dash and some wiring to go.

Took Vair to Goodyear for the Alignment this morning. Also had tires balanced.

Vair is in great driving condition now. It will go to Maggie Valley 2nd weekend of October for a small vacation. A 700 mile trip with Donna doing the driving. I will be pulling the RV with our Silverado.

Installed modified tail light and back up light housings. Installed NOS lenses and Clark's show trim. Modified housings aim bulbs straight back horizontally.

This was final piece to make tail section look great.

Lots of old lenses left over from both Vairs to now dispose of. Some not worth anything as they are cracked pretty good.

Took the More Door back to Goodyear for a alignment tweak. Steering wheel was turned 15 degrees to left when moving straight. Return to center always returned it to same offset position.

Donna drove it home and says it is now bar is horizontal like it should be.

Now it is ready for Maggie Valley.

Sure hope they centered the steering box and not the wheel.

I told Johnny (Goodyear Old timer tech) the wheel had been centered to the box. He went through the alignment again ad did it the way he did it for many years without wheel removal.

The other tech on Monday was a 25 year old tech. Had no choice on who was getting it when I took it in on Monday when Johnny wasn't working. Should have found out Johnny's next work day to save me a trip in for the alignment. He is the only worth a dam in balancing tires.

Installed alternator brace I made onto the engine today. Harness was ty-rapped to alternator to keep it secure. A second ty-rap was used around the main ty-rap to act as a stand-off for the harness from the alternator. More Door was the final check fit place for all the braces we made, so now we are done it was time for More Door to get a final brace install.

Pulled plugs and did a compression check on the engine to see how it was after 4800 miles. All were around 165 psi. Nice strong engine. Plugs had a brownish grey look. So everything is normal in the combustion area. Only run premium in this engine. Timing is set to 13 degrees and there is no pinging.

Forgot to update.

On Thursday, we added a 3 gauge mount plate to the center dash. In it, we have mounted an electronic oil pressure gauge, an electronic vacuum gauge and a volt meter. Pressure sensor for vacuum was mount to side of ash tray mount.

Wiring needs to be completed under the dash. Needed wiring and tubing through tunnel was previously run. Engine compartment needs tach and oil pressure wires run and hooked up. Vacuum tubing is hooked up.

Pulled rear seat and rear cardboard for carpeting. Also running speaker wires to the front.

Rear seat back and hinged panel have been carpeted.

Tomorrow is a full day carpeting rear package tray cardboard and installing it. Installing rear speakers and rear seat. Removing front seats to swap tracks in order to have best seat under driver. Install console hopefully, if parts come in. Plus wiring in gauges we put in last week.

We are going to Maggie Valley in less than 2 weeks and Vair needs to be ready for Donna's comfortable ride.

Lots done today.

Carpeted the package area cardboard. The cardboard was weak on the area under the window. So before carpeting, we beefed up the cardboard by contact cementing pieces of Masonite board to the bottom of the cardboard. Routed speaker wires and taped them in place, then installed the package tray cardboard. Pulled wires through holes I preset for our speaker boxes.

Carpeted the hinge panel. (Did you know Clark's does not sell you material to cover it unless you ask. Then they will add it to the seat back piece.) I asked for 10" to be added.

Being curious and also running speaker wires into the front center areafor console hookup, we pulled the interior items from the floor. Both front seats, all door sill plates, "B" pillar covers front seat belts, front carpet and rear carpet. We also pulled left vent panel, since we had never pulled it. I wanted to see if any debris was present. It was surprisingly clean.

We will clean up and treat/paint the floor panel. Seems it was not done as well as I would have done it. Also, the PO to the PO, welded the removable toe panel at the bottom left to the floorboard. Seems it was a rusted corner and welding it to the floorboard was his best idea to secure it. Using my 4 inch side grinder, I got it off and then cleaned up the area. I have another panel to use that is in great condition.

Tomorrow is wiring day for front speakers and the instruments. I will be changing out my momentary fuel pump switch to a 3 position switch. On-Off-Momentary. Hopefully by this weekend most tasks will be done and we will be waiting on a couple parts for the console.

Rear speakers mounted in their boxes. Hooked them up and installed on package shelf.

Removed right vent assembly, so we could clean and paint under it.

Cleaned floor boards and primed metal.

Repaired cracks in "B" pillar covers.

Prepped some wiring for installation into car. Located another switch to incorporate a system disable switch.

Not much done today while working on console.

But I did remove the bracket for the parking brake light and my fuel pump momentary switch. It is being replaced with a 3 place bracket to add the brake warning switch light (switch/light is on 67 -69 Vairs).

Fuel pump switch is also being upgraded to a momentary-off-on switch. A slight rewiring under the dash will occur for this switch. Going to be under the dash for instrument wiring, so a good time to make change. Lots of room too with bucket seats out.

Located wires and terminals to hook up Master Cylinder switch block switch.

Donna dyed the carpet back to its black color. Was starting to turn a little off shade. Looks good now.

I replaced 2 hole dash bracket with the 3 hole bracket today. No wiring from items on this bracket will be connected to fuse box until all circuits are completed and checked.

Installed the park brake handle light.

Installed the 3 position fuel pump switch and wired it up to my latest design ideas.

Removed fuse box and installed fuse clip at bottom of stack. New radio and fuel pump will be only items on this fuse.

Prepped the brake warning light wires for switch at MC.

I have got the console far enough along that all further work will be added here. It is at the point it need to be taken down, installed in the car in pieces, then wired in.

Here is a photo before it goes in the Vair. Remember this was a very humble console I started with. With the changes and painting, it will fit in with the original interior of the Vair.
