BFGoodrich G-Force Rivals

Anyone running the Rivals? I'm wanting to stay with 15" wheels, but having a hell of a time finding tires.

I know the 60 series are popular, but I would like a 50 series, and only found one of those. Even lower profile are the Rivals.

I'm looking at 225/45 in front and 245/40 in back. Both 23" tall. 15x7 front-4.5"BS, 15x8 back-5" BS.

I'm really trying to get a visual on whether a 23" tire is going to be too low for occasional weekend cruising or fun run autoX.

The possible autoX part is why I'm looking at 200 wear, not R compound tires.

Any pics with folks running 23" tires, or Rivals would be appreciated!

Cheers!

23's are fine for your intended uses!

I like Falcon Azenis, I think they were designed for road racing street class with a 200 treadwear. I'm very pleased with mine but I have 14 inch rims.

As requested: 23" tall tires. They're Hoosier A6s.

Here's what they look like off of the car.

These tires are exactly the size you are talking about: 225/45-15 on 7" rims on the front and 245/40-15 on 8" rims on the rear. They are Hankook Rs4.

Perfect, thank you guys very much! Picture is worth a thousand words.

In pictures, and ONLY in my opinion, I always thought the 205/50-15 (23") looked a little tiny.

I'm not a rubber band tire guy, but these don't look too bad at all.

Thanks much!

I don't know if I'll end up doing autoX, but I don't want to spend money twice and I'm kind of partial to the vintage racer look if nothing else.

I went with tiny smiling smiley 205 50 15's all around on 15x7 wheels. They're 23" in diameter. Since then I replaced my 3:55 gears with 3:27's because I didn't like cruising at 65 mph @ 3200 RPM. Yes that small changed helped. In addition, I found a 1:1.1111 gear reduction for my stock speedometer (5/8" drives are hard to find) to get the reading somewhat accurate. Point is, for a cruiser, 23" tires may lead to more work.

Lol, they actually don't look small on your car, it's beautiful. Might just be some angles when I was thread surfing.

Good input on the perceived ratio change. Makes sense.

205-50-15 Kuhmos on 8" American Racing Mags 200S or coke bottle design. Tires fill to fender lip.
Good street tires, not aggressive enough for autox.

Man, I like that one too. I think I'm sold on the 23" tires. Sucky the 50series are almost impossible anymore if you're not looking for an R compound.

I run 205/50-15 Bridgestone RE-71R, 200 Treadwear, and nice and sticky on the autocross track.

Its a common Miata size - which keeps volume of tires up, and costs relatively down.
