Think this was the first published 4 carb conversion for the Corvair. Can someone correct me if I am wrong?

Latham supercharger used the side draft Carter carbs often. Even the Latham for Corvair use had the Carter carbs installed.

Those offys have to be welded though.

Steve sez: Similar if not the same as in OTTO catalog
that CLARKS sells. I have a customer in the
mountains with the modified heads on his engine. He
likes it but the small valves are a bit of a drawback.

I have that add a carb kit and a engine with the same kit installed, that kit came out before the 140 engine so at the time it was the shit, the OFFY manifolds are for a 140 engine, the advantage is they double the plenum volume and straighten out the transition of the fuel path and rotate the carbs, I am using them on my track car heads.

Sorry I didn't make my post above clear, the fellow
here has the weld-on kit on 95hp heads. Yes the carbs
are rotated, he bought from Clarks several years ago.

He thought he was going to have 140 heads when done
and then I showed him the larger valves and exh tubes
in stock 140hp heads. He still likes the engine
just fine so all is well.

Not the only time a car maker took their cue from hot rodders and the after market..

Of course a lot of what Bill Thomas developed for the Corvair and other Chevrolet products, was done "off the books " to circumvent GM racing policy
